Donovan chit-chats about a few topics he found interesting such as America’s cheese problem, AT&T getting shredded by their competition for something stupid they’re doing, the Impossible Burger 2.0 and McDonald’s thinks we need more bacon…which, let’s be honest, we can ALWAYS use more bacon!
Donovan speaks to his desire to refocus the podcast and make it more about engaging, thought provoking conversations that hopefully will enlighten, educate and bring diverse people closer together.
Donovan is joined by his wife, Lea, and his sometimes podcasting co-hosts, Sam Lewis and Shae Jones to discuss the year that was 2018. Everyone shared their highlights of the year.
Lea said she turned 48 and had the experience of working at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village (Agrirama) in Tifton, GA. Her highlights included stories of children visiting the Historic Village and their shock of seeing how people lived so many years ago.
Sam shared how Dungeons and Dragons had been such a highlight for him in 2018 and how he has really gotten into World of Warcraft. He also mentioned how the new series of Doctor Who featuring the very first female Doctor was special to him. His biggest moment of 2018, he finally confessed, was probably his Dragoncon experience.
Shae made a major life change by relocating to a new city and a new job along with a new outlook on life.
Donovan talked about 2018 being his year of sobriety and the fact that Tyler, Lea and Donovan’s youngest son, got a new job (instead of working with his Dad) in his chosen field, something Donovan had hoped for.
The show rounded out with everyone discussing what they’re looking forward to in 2019.
Be aware that the conversations derailed from time to time to discuss Doctor Who, politics, religion, technology and much more. You just can’t keep this group on topic!
Donovan talks about his 1 year anniversary of sobriety, moving the office/studio around and why he’s no longer on Patreon.
Donovan announces, with a short little story, the end of DGR.
Donovan provides an update on why he hasn’t posted any content in the last couple of weeks (i.e. office and studio stuff); the 21st of December is his 1 year anniversary of his “Year of Sobriety” – will he continue for year 2 or …? And finally, he addresses why atheists aren’t being hypocritical by celebrating Christmas.
Have you ever considered the hidden costs involved in some of the most spectacular Christmas light shows that some people put on in their very own yards? No? Well, neither had Donovan until he came across the story of a married couple in Old Bridge, N.J. that is now being asked to pay $2,000 per night that they have their lights lit up. The reason? Public safety.
