While enjoying large strawberry milkshakes from Sonic, Lea and Donovan provide their thoughts on the behavior of couples, specifically bouncing off the news of the week that Vice President Mike Pence doesn’t have a meal with a woman that isn’t his wife or if he’s at a function that services alcohol, he must have his wife present or he won’t attend.
Donovan discusses the comparison of one of his married friends and how he and Lea seem to be polar opposites to his friend and his friend’s wife in regards to doing things together. Upon further discussions, Donovan finds that he and Lea are very similar to Lea’s parents and even Donovan’s parents to some extent. They do everything together, they go everywhere together. Same goes for Lea and Donovan, with the exception of work, of course. Is it a societal thing? Is it a religious thing? Lea states that the true secret to a long standing marriage or relationship is to never stop dating each other.
As typically happens, the couple stray from their chosen topic somewhat, discussing monogamy (Donovan doesn’t believe humans were ever meant to be in monogamous relationships), open relationships and the difference between love and lust (Donovan’s pretty sure it’s the same, wink:wink).
