Lea and Donovan are back, this time to talk about how they had “the talk” with their children. In a world, especially in the southern states, where sex has a tendency to be a bit taboo, the couple took a different approach. They decided, much like they did with most things dealing with their children, to have open and honest conversations with their kids about sex. From the earliest possible age where their children could make the appropriate connections, they built upon a foundation of honesty and openness with their kids, advancing youths’ knowledge as they got older.
The couple doesn’t believe in beating around the bush, per se, and thinks that abstinence programs are a complete waste of time (studies have actually shown this) and the best way to get a teenager to do something is to tell them NO! Try it and you’ll see.
With the mindset that teens and young adults are going to have sex (there’s no way around it), Lea and Donovan thought the best approach was to make sure their kids were educated and armed in the area of sex to protect themselves from unwanted outcomes.
